MELSOFT MaiLab simplifies data analysis through four straightforward steps:
Offline Analysis
Step 1: Data Set Creation
Import and register data into MaiLab to form a “data set.” These data sets can be visualised through various graph types, allowing easy human review before AI diagnosis.
Step 2: AI Creation
MaiLab automatically learns from the data set to create an AI model for diagnosing unknown data. By selecting the analysis objective, the software identifies patterns and generates the AI without manual programming.
Real Time Diagnosis
Step 3: Task Creation
Define a “task” to set up how unknown data will be diagnosed. This includes specifying data input/output and thresholds for determining good or bad results. Accuracy is displayed as a score to guide judgment.
Step 4: Task Execution and Monitoring
Execute tasks and monitor diagnostic results in real time. Deployment to equipment is simple with one click and live data flow and status are visualised through a graphical interface on the learning server.
Prepare the Data (Data Set Creation)
To begin analysis, register your data in MELSOFT MaiLab as a “data set.” Supported data sources include CSV and TSV files, which can be easily imported with simple mouse operations. Once registered, the data can be viewed in tables or graphs to facilitate preliminary inspection before AI processing.
Create Diagnosis Rules (AI Creation)
MaiLab offers two modes for AI creation: automatic and manual. In automatic mode, the software selects the best preprocessing and analysis methods based on your objectives and data characteristics, simplifying AI model creation without requiring expert knowledge. Manual mode allows users to choose specific methods, ideal for those with a clear analysis approach. This flexible process generates AI models that identify patterns and relationships within the data.
Complete and Customise AI
After training, the AI model is ready for real time diagnostics. Users can review scores and comments to validate the model’s performance. For enhanced accuracy, MaiLab allows customisation of AI workflows through a block based interface, where blocks can be connected or edited. Additionally, Python coding can be integrated for advanced customisation and development of tailored learning models.
Implementing on Devices (Task Creation)
In MELSOFT MaiLab, a task is a series of steps that use the AI model to analyse new, unknown data and provide diagnostic results.
You can create simple tasks automatically by setting the necessary parameters for how the process should run. For more complex setups, advanced task options are available, details can be found in the manuals.
MaiLab integrates tightly with Mitsubishi Electric FA equipment, allowing you to directly specify compatible devices. This makes deploying and arranging devices quick and easy, without complicated configuration.
While a task is running, you can monitor the diagnosis results in real time through clear and intuitive displays, including:
Line graphs that show data trends over time
Pie charts that summarise results at a glance
Tables that list detailed diagnosis outcomes and the data inputs used by the AI
These features help users easily understand the status of their production line and make timely decisions based on live data feedback.
The straightforward interface and strong device compatibility make MaiLab ideal for fast deployment and ongoing monitoring in manufacturing environments.
System Configuration
Data collection and diagnosis can be started with just a basic MELSOFT MaiLab license, making it easy to get up and running quickly.
The system can be flexibly expanded to suit different facility sizes, more analysis users and growing operational needs.
